In the last few days, I was running a training workshop for professionals who are interested to learn more about the Solution Focused Approach and apply it to youth behaviours and issues that are commonly faced. Sometimes some of these problems can be recurring over a long period of time which can be very tiring.
One of the key ideas that I shared was a summary of a framework that I use to work with youth. For me, I believe that these are the key components that are crucial to achieve our best hopes with our youth.
In this blog post, I will share a little more reflections on the component of solutions in this framework. But if you would like to have a more in-depth understanding of how I use these different ideas to work with youth, you can learn more through my eBook “Youth Lenses”. So do check out my eBook “Youth Lenses” at this link: https://coachjoechan.com/product/youth-lenses.
For anyone to effectively influence youth, they would need to consider how they view solutions. For many of us, we often have a fixed mindset of what are the “solutions” to the problems or challenges that our youth face. In doing so, we not only limit ourselves to the possibilities but we become fixated on a certain way of doing things which is likely not in line with how our young people are thinking.
To make illustrate this point, I have a short video clip that I hope to share with you all here.
There is really much more that we can do today for our young people by being their mentor, their coach, their guide or sometimes simply their friend in this crazy world!
So today let’s start building solutions together with our child towards a preferred future.
Wishing you all the best as a parent coach in your journey ahead!
Love,
Coach Joe Chan
