Bonding with our sons through play!
In the work of youth development, one thing has remained timeless: the power of mentorship. While mentoring itself isn’t new, its impact is profound—especially when we consider where our youth are in their life stage.
Adolescence is a unique period of identity formation. Young people are no longer children to be parented in the same way, but not yet fully mature adults either. They’re exploring who they are, testing boundaries, and deeply in need of role models, support, and guidance.
This is why I believe mentoring is one of the most developmentally-appropriate and transformative approaches we can offer. It acts as a bridge between childhood and adulthood, helping youth gradually transition into responsible, self-aware, and resilient young adults—with someone walking alongside them, not just telling them what to do.
Who Am I and Why Do I Teach This?

Sharing about the importance of youth resilience
I’ve been on both ends of mentorship. As a teenager, I was mentored by older men who helped shape my values, identity, and life direction. Not long after, I began mentoring others myself—and have never stopped since.
For over 20 years, I’ve worked as a social worker, youth worker, coach, and now a Manhood Coach, journeying with countless youths from diverse backgrounds in Singapore and in the region. Each one came with their own story—challenges, dreams, struggles—and I’ve had the privilege of helping them find their next step forward.
Having facilitated workshops and worked with parents, educators, and professionals across multiple settings, I’ve come to one conclusion: mentorship works best when done with clarity, skill, and heart. That’s what this workshop is about.
